Cerebral palsy is a disorder of movement, muscle tone and/or posture that is caused by an injury to the developing brain, most often before birth. On average, around 10,000 babies are born each year with cerebral palsy. Today, there are 764,000 adults and children in the U.S. living with it.

Cerebral palsy disorders affect individuals in varying degrees, including the ability to walk, communicate, and eat, as well as possible blindness, epilepsy or deafness. Because of the complications associated with those with cerebral palsy, our staff are here to assist with daily needs and activities.

We recognize that there are varying levels of this disorder, so we develop individualized care plans for each cerebral palsy individual in our program.

At Club Horizons, we provide social interaction, social therapy as well as sensory stimulation.

How We Can Help

At Club Horizons, we specialize in a variety of disorders, including cerebral palsy. Our trained staff members have completed detailed training courses that familiarize them with the effects of this disorder and the appropriate forms of cerebral palsy care.

We know that many individuals with cerebral palsy experience social issues such as anxiety, shyness, frustration, sadness, lack of self-expression, and more. To address these issues and to make our members more comfortable, we’ve created a social therapy program that help eliminate physical and psychological barriers. We encourage individuals to practice cooperation and enhance interpersonal relationships, both at our location and outside of our location.

Self-confidence is another social effect of cerebral palsy and for some, it can be hard to express. Through our social therapy and our one-on-one care, we help individuals develop their own unique personality and increase their independence, giving them the power to confidently interact with others and increase their creativity.

Our cerebral palsy care comes complete with an open line of communication with each individual’s parents or guardians. We like to keep in touch with the people in each member’s life to better understand their personal behaviors and needs.

At Club Horizons, we’re all about love. From our staff members to our individuals with cerebral palsy, we’ve created a community that is caring, accepting, loving, and warm. We pay close attention to our members and offer one-on-one care when it’s needed, but mostly, we love to have fun and enjoy life.
